The coat of arms of Jerusalem is an emblem of the city as well as of its municipality. It was instituted in 1949, following an official competition.[1] The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette Rashumot on November 13, 1958. The lion alludes to the lion of Judah, the walls on the background - the Western Wall, the olive branches represent peace and the inscription above is the city name in Hebrew. Note
