Europass is an EU initiative to increase transparency of qualification and mobility of citizens in Europe. It consists of five documents (CV, Language Passport, Europass Mobility, Certificate supplement and Diploma supplement) that should make a person's skills and qualifications clearly understood.

Europass CV

Its purpose is to help all users to create, with a simple wizard, a Curriculum vitae or a Language passport in the "European Format", and to get information about the other Europass documents.

EU member countries have established a National Europass Centre to promote and provide information on the Europass documents.

Europass and EuroCv

The European Commission is hosting a jobboard service for European Citizens - the European Job Mobility Portal (EURES) which supports the Europass.

Another free service is EuroCv which helps the users to keep a copy of the Curriculum Vitae in a free web space without ads and banners. EuroCv uses the Europass format as a standard. Such a format is compatible with the systems already proposed by Europass, but it also offers the possibility of sharing the curriculum through the web by a simple link.

Europass CV plug-in for blogs

The Directorate General Education and Culture has co-financed the European project KITE under the Leonardo Da Vinci programme. KITE offers an implementation of the Europass-CV as a plug-in of the open source software weblogs WordPress and DotClear. The plugins allow users of those blogging services to store create a Europass CV in all European official languages and export it into the following formats: PDF, ODT, HTML, XHTML, HR-XML. The plugin is compliant with HR-XML SEP specifications.
