Biography

Early life

From the Saint Paul, Minnesota area, Friel earned a degree in theology, though he was not yet a Christian.6 Instead of going into Christian ministry, Friel became a stand-up comedian performing secular comedy with fellow comedians Jay Leno, Louie Anderson, and Ellen DeGeneres.7 He performed over 1500 times on stage as a stand-up comedian, mostly in venues in the Minneapolis – Saint Paul area in Minnesota.8

Friel began on radio in Minnesota on KDWB-FM as a sidekick to a local radio personality . From 2000 to 2001, Todd hosted Talk the Walk on KTIS AM. In 2001, Todd hosted Talk the Walk on KKMS out of Minneapolis until it was changed to The Way of the Master Radio in January 2006.9 On December 1, 2008, Friel launched Wretched Radio after people from Way of the Master decided to discontinue doing the radio show as part of their ministry.10

Current ministries

Friel is an Evangelical Christian and is actively involved in promoting and discussing his faith. Besides being an evangelist with The Way of the Master, he is a national speaker and advocate for Biblical evangelism and Creationism. Beliefs

Friel is an active Christian evangelist with The Way of the Master. He has said, "We win them to the Lord, not by being hip."16 He also believes in the use of Christian music, and says, "Songwriters could provide true hope if they would write about the sovereignty of God rather than crying about 'how safe I feel when Jesus is holding me.'"17

Friel frequently airs clips of evangelical preachers such as John Piper, Paul Washer, and R.C. Sproul.
